Hello neighbor,
Although we are just initiating permit processes, and the earliest we foresee mobilizing for construction will be early fall (September), we will be embarking on pre-construction activities on-site in the coming months.
As one of our project goals is to have a highly energy-efficient, low carbon, project, we will next be performing testing to gauge whether our site is a good candidate for geothermal heating/ cooling. For this, there is a three-step program upcoming.
These dates are subject to change given weather or other impacts, but we currently anticipate the following.
- Site Prep by excavator, including juniper tree removal in NW corner of site: March 23rd-24th.
- Drilling in two locations as shown on the attached plan:
- a NW location near the corner of site: March 27th – 29th.
- a Southern location just east of the future 7th St extension: March 29th-31st.
The drill machine uses a percussion method as this is necessary to get through the layers of rock. The driller has assured us that he will do his best to ‘aim’ (position) the drill rig in a manner that reduces the direct noise impact to homes, his goal is to keep the noise to approximately 60db (less than a vacuum cleaner). The on-site drilling work will occur between Bend’s standard construction hours of 7am-5pm. As a courtesy, the driller is planning to wait till 7:30am to begin each day.
- Testing on only the NW location from April 3rd-5th (continuous 40-hour test). This test involves using a small, tow-behind generator, that will run in idle, which is relatively quiet, and will likely not be heard from inside your home.
Currently, we do not anticipate a test being required on the Southern location.
