Who responded
127 residents filled out the Orchard Neighborhood Association survey, conducted December, 2020 through January, 2021. You told us why you like living here and what you are concerned about.
We recognize this survey does not portray a full picture of our neighbors’ priorities because we have not reached most of them and we have big gaps in representation from many of the marginalized identity groups that we know are present based on demographic information. The board aims to become more inclusive and relevant to all of our constituents.
The survey respondents were well-dispersed throughout the neighborhood
What do people like?
As they would say in real estate — location, location, location. It’s near everything, you said. You and your neighbors like the parks and feel safe here. Also, it’s quiet and it’s friendly.
What would you like to see changed or improved?
Upgraded sidewalks, more services in the business sections, less speeding and safer crossings — all over but especially at Greenwood around 6th Street.
What should the board do?
Residents say they want the Board to let them know about land use issues, public meetings and city government. And nearly half the respondents said they would be happy to serve on a committee or help in some way.
